Information you give us once your child is enrolled — enrollment paperwork, health records, daily reports — is governed by our Parent Handbook and by California child care licensing regulations, not by this policy.

What we collect
Information you give us
If you fill in the tour request form on our Visit Us page, we collect your first and last name, email address, and (if you choose to give it) your phone number. The form also asks for your child's age, when you are hoping to start, and the schedule you are interested in, and gives you a free-text box for anything else you want to tell us. Everything except name and email is optional.
We ask for your child's age because it determines which room they would join and whether we have a space. We do not ask for your child's name, date of birth, address, photograph or any health information through this website, and you should not send those to us through the form.
If you email or call us instead, we hold whatever you choose to tell us in that message.
Information collected automatically
Our website is hosted by Netlify, which keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) for security and reliability.
We use Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager to understand how people find and use the site — which pages they read, and whether they go on to request a tour or tap the phone number. We also use Google Ads conversion measurement, which tells us whether a visitor who arrived from one of our search ads went on to contact us. These use cookies and similar technologies, and they collect device and approximate location information. If you arrive from one of our ads, Google adds a click identifier to the web address; we store that identifier with your tour request so we can tell which advertising is working.
Two other Google services load as part of the page: Google Fonts, which supplies the typefaces, and a Google Maps embed on the Visit Us page. Both involve a request to Google's servers that carries your IP address.
Why we collect it, and what we do not do
We use what you send us to answer your enquiry, arrange a tour, and follow up about enrollment. We use the analytics data to improve the site and to judge whether our advertising is worth continuing.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not send it to any other preschool, broker or marketing list. Aside from the service providers named on this page — Netlify, Google and Google Workspace, which processes our email — we do not pass it to anyone, except where the law requires it.
We keep tour enquiries for as long as they are commercially useful, and delete them when they are not. Analytics data is retained by Google for 14 months.
Your choices
[s22575(b)(2) — review and change] Email rebecca@bigtreelittlepreschool.com and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. We will not ask you to justify the request, and we will not charge you. Please allow us a few working days — this is a small school, not a support desk.
You can unsubscribe from any email we send by replying and telling us to stop.
You can block cookies in your browser, or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site works normally without them.
Do Not Track
[s22575(b)(5)] Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is still no agreed industry standard for what a website should do in response, and this site does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals. We are telling you plainly rather than implying a protection we do not provide.
Third parties across other websites
[s22575(b)(6)] Yes. Because we use Google Analytics and Google Ads, Google may collect information about your activity on this site and combine it with information it holds from other websites over time. Google explains this at how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Children
This website is written for parents and carers, not for children, and it is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child through this site. The only child-related field on the form is an age band, which a parent enters. If you believe a child has sent us information through this website, email rebecca@bigtreelittlepreschool.com and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Form submissions are held in our hosting provider's dashboard and emailed to a small number of school accounts, each protected by two-factor authentication. No small organisation can promise perfect security, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
Changes to this policy
[s22575(b)(3)] If we change this policy in a way that materially affects how we handle your information, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and post a note here for at least 30 days. Substantial changes will also be mentioned in the tour form's consent text.
